Control theory on david letterman affair

Attachment-Mr. Letterman was just recently married in March and maybe had a detoriating relationship with his new wife. Maybe he didn't feel satisfied sexually with her and that he doesn't have strong social ties as the media makes him out to be.

Opportunity- Maybe thought he wasn't going to be succesful in future years or confident. A decline in ratings or trying to involve more of an audience, he decided to come out with this. The more popular you get the more pressure is put on you to be even more popular.

Involvement- He always had a job and never really hung out with friends or had a chance to do any other activities. His social involvement was always with work. So naturally, he would feel more comfortable with his employees, especially his female employees which he has been sexually involved with.

Belief- He felt he could get away with it. He is so successful that he might think he is above the rules. Since it came out with the blackmailing, he was forced to admit it and make it work in his favor then against him. People will talk about his morals and why he choose to do this.

  1. I think David Letterman was wrong to do this. He probably made the women feel disrespected by makeing this know public. Also, his wife is most likey humilated.

  2. I believe that David Letterment was indeed wrong with his choice on having sexual relations with the woman. He was irresponsible to do this, especially if he couldn't have the guts to admit to the scandel before being threatened. He should be more open to the public with such aligations instead of waiting for the inevitable to happen. But all in all, he should just apologize and move on with his life and definitely needs to make it up to his wife for embarresting her.

  3. I think that Letterman was wrong with his affairs with other women who work for him. He is married and has a son. He should not have cheated. He claimed the women were consenting adults but they might have felt their jobs in jeapordy if they have not completed these acts. I think he was right for publicly admitting it before the black mail got out. He does not have very strong belief, he defies authority often on his show and maybe he thought he was not going to be punished for what he did.

  4. Although David letterman is a public figure, he is said to have week social ties. He has a great amount of legitimate oppertunity but his lack of involvement which seems to be by choice has afforded Him the oppertunity to engage in devient activity. I could only imagine how i would view myself if i were is as popular as He. if i was i would probably think i was above the law and if i lived the same lifestyle would be apt to have some deviant activity. but i would hope not
